Today was Day 18 of Yoga Camp, a month-long series/30 day challenge of free yoga videos by my favorite online instructor, Adriene Mishler. I will inevitably be posting about her and the beauty and power of yoga in greater depth, but for right now I am simply sharing a quick reflection on this particular session:
At first my mantra of “Surrender” was about surrendering to a situation that I’ve been struggling to accept & move on from for the past year; then it was surrendering to the fact my cat was in spastic playtime mode trying to pounce & gnaw on everything that moved… including my hair, hoodie drawstrings, feet, hands, and my entire head. 😛
What does it matter? I love him.
I found that my answer to the little struggle was the same answer to my bigger one.
And I realized anew that things don’t have to be perfect to be perfect. The big picture… The little moment… Push it away, or embrace & just let it be. You choose.
Love is surrender, and I choose love.
“The time is now, the place is here. Stay in the present. You can do nothing to change the past, and the future will never come exactly as you plan or hope for.” ~ Dan Millan
Believe it or not that is incredibly comforting. Big breath in… then one long deep let go. Or a bunch of little let-gos over & over. Whatever. I surrender. 🙂
